One of the things that excites me is the way that people learn and develop. Reflection activities and sharing ideas in a public forum can help to develop critical thinking skills. For the next several weeks, I'm going to focus this blog on what it means to strengthen my own skills as a facilitator of adult learning and engagement. There's a wide body of research to support the benefits of reflection. Here's an interesting read from Edutopia on Reflecting for Change.

This blog will be a place to think out loud and to reflect on new concepts and consider ways that I might incorporate them into my own work. Most importantly, I am hopefully that this approach will help me to establish a professional practice that helps me to integrate my learning across spheres into a more comprehensive approach on a ongoing basis.

For those of you I am just meeting, I work in the community development field and support community change through adult learning and development. One of my goals in life is to help people and communities to shine - for me that means understanding and connecting in meaningful ways. I live in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and have been working through Vancouver Community College's Instructor Diploma Program since 2020. By far the most rewarding parts of the program have been the chance to engage and connect with other facilitators of adult learning. In my spare time, I love traveling, reading, and training for (little!) triathlons.

Comments and ideas are welcome! I'd love to know if you've undertaken a similar journey and how it felt.

Keep shining!
