Time and Change

I love the seasons, holidays, events, birthdays for the change they represent – the end of something and the new beginning of something else. Time change, oddly enough, is one of those things for me too. I’m sure that wouldn’t make me popular but it one of the year’s events that signals a shift, a change, an adaptation and time for reflection. In 2020, the year with so many changes and shifts, it strikes me as somewhat prophetic that this year’s time change happens on November 1. Just two months left in 2020. Moving quickly towards Remembrance Day and then a short hop to the holiday season and 2021.

But I’m not meaning to rush ahead. There is no erasing 2020 as many memes and cartoons might suggest. Here in the home stretch, as we move through the last quarter, these last two months are a great time to pause. Consider what didn’t get done yet, what could still get done, and how we set ourselves up for success.

The time for reflection that the shorter days of fall bring is a gift. It’s a chance to slow down, and here in North America, to enjoy the last few yellow and orange leaves, listen for the geese heading south, smell the first snowflakes, and marvel at Jack Frost’s window paintings. It is also time to be still, to quiet our minds, to listen to our hearts and to set intentions for how we will grow and learn from the challenges of 2020. And to firm up our plans for what we will achieve for ourselves and our communities.
Keep Shining!
Lisa
