Vision for the Future

As I move towards the final project for the instructor program, I wanted to spend some time considering how I will use what I have learned.  My overall vision for personal and professional activities continues to centre around supporting people and communities to shine.  For me, that means coaching, encouraging, providing opportunities, and exploring possibilities with people and communities.  It means questioning the power I hold, the role my ego is playing, and how I am considering learner needs.

As an instructor I would like to develop a Belonging workshop, develop a reflective practice, and integrate principles of adult learning into community development sessions. To help me move closer to my vision, I’d like to share these goals and ask for support to be accountable to them.

Goal 1 - By the end of 2025, I will have developed a foundational Belonging workshop and delivered a minimum of two sessions where feedback will be used to adjust and adapt the workshop and my teaching approach.

Goal 2 – Beginning in May 2025, I will implement a weekly reflective practice to consider how the actions I have taken as an adult educator have gone.  Initially, I’d like my reflective practice to consider how I have helped create a welcoming environment for learning to occur.

Goal 3 – By the end of 2026, I will have reviewed my community development sessions to understand how and what adjustments can be made to align them better to principles of adult learning. Planning for this goal will need to be done more comprehensively through late 2025 as it will include multiple elements that support collaboration with team members.

Wow, it’s bit scary to see those written down!  That’s okay. I know that learning happens on the edge of scary and these goals support my continued learning as an adult educator.
